New Delhi: Violence and instances of arson continued in Manipur on Saturday (June 24) even as Union home minister Amit Shah convened an all-party meeting in New Delhi to discuss the situation.

In a fresh case of a property association with an elected state leader being targeted, a private godown belonging to state minister of public health engineering and consumer affairs L. Susindro Meitei in Imphal was burnt down on Friday night. At around 10:40 pm, a mob also tried to enter the minister’s house, but security forces dispersed the crowd using teargas, India Today reported.

Police said the godown was reduced to ashes, according to PTI.

Several elected leaders have been victims of arson ever since the ethnic violence began on May 3, even as both groups have expressed their disappointment in the state and Unions governments’ responses.

According to The Indian Express, the residences of Union MoS for external affairs Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, state cabinet minister Nemcha Kipgen, Manipur PWD minister Govindas Konthoujam, Uripok MLA Raghumani Singh, Sugnoo MLA K. Ranjit Singh and Naoriya Pakhanglakpa MLA S Kebi Devi have been burnt so far.
